What this site collects, what it doesn't, and how to have your details taken out of it. Written to be read, not to be scrolled past.

01

The short version

This site is run by Neké Akua LLC. The only personal information it asks you for is an email address, and only if you choose to join the newsletter. It measures which pages get read using Google Analytics, and runs no advertising pixels. and it does not sell or share your details with anyone.

02

What I collect

Your email address, if you enter it in a newsletter form. It's stored with the date you signed up and which page you signed up from, so I can tell what people are actually reading. Nothing else — no name, no location, no purchase history.

Anything you send me by email. If you write to me, I have your message and your address for as long as the thread is useful.

Standard server logs. The site is hosted on Vercel, which records requests the way every web server does — IP address, browser, the page requested, and the time. Those logs are Vercel's, kept for a short period, and used for security and to keep the site up.

Which pages get read. Google Analytics records the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device you're on. It also records how far down a page you scroll, which outbound links you click, and whether you started filling in the newsletter form — not what you typed into it. It sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from the next. It's how I know which guides are worth writing more of and which recommendations people actually follow. None of it is tied to your email address, and I can't use it to work out who you are.

03

What I do with it

The email address is used for one thing: sending the newsletter, and replying if you write to me. It is not used to build a profile of you, it is not sold, and it is not passed to brands or advertisers — including brands I work with.

Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. You can also just ask, at any time, and I'll remove you.

04

Who else touches your data

Supabase stores the subscriber list. Vercel hosts and serves the site. Both are processors — they hold data on my behalf and don't get to use it for their own purposes.

Google Fonts serves the typefaces this site is set in. That means your browser requests files from Google's servers when a page loads, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. I don't receive anything from it.

Google Analytics measures how the site is used. Google processes that on my behalf; what it collects is described above, and you can opt out of it entirely with Google's own browser add-on or by turning on your browser's Do Not Track setting.

Splashify Pro sends the newsletter and holds the list of addresses it goes to. When you sign up, your address is passed to them along with the page you signed up from. You can unsubscribe from any email they send, and that takes you off the list at both ends.

06

What this site does not do

It runs no advertising pixels — no Meta pixel, no ad network tag, no retargeting. It does not fingerprint your device, it does not sell what Analytics collects, and it does not have a comments section, a login, or a shopping cart.

A couple of pages remember small preferences in your own browser's storage — nothing that leaves your device and nothing I can read.

07

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has signed up, email me and I'll delete the record.

08

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and I'll do it. If you're in the EU or UK, that's your GDPR right of access, rectification and erasure; if you're in California, that's your CCPA right to know and to delete. There is nothing to opt out of on the selling front, because I don't sell personal information.

To exercise any of it, email hello@nekeakua.com. One address, no form.

09

Changes

This page is dated, and the date changes when the text does. If something material changes — a new processor, a new category of data — it will be described here rather than quietly swapped in.

Questions about any of this go to hello@nekeakua.com. The Terms of Use cover the rest.
