Four blazers, one rule
I don't own many blazers. The ones I keep all pass the same test.

The test
A blazer earns a spot in my closet if it works over exactly three things I already own — jeans, a slip dress, and whatever I'm wearing to sit on a plane for six hours. If it only works with one outfit I already had in mind when I bought it, it's not a blazer, it's a costume piece.

The oversized red one is the one I reach for most, mostly because it makes anything under it look more decided than it is. Mustard is the one people actually stop me about. Neither one has ever been dry-cleaned, which either says something about the fabric or something about me.
