The rest I actually took this year

Not the version I posted about. The actual, unglamorous version.

Neké Akua in a white terry robe, leaning on the stair rail of a sunlit white hallway on a slow morning.

What rest actually looked like

The posted version of rest is a robe and good light. The real version was turning my phone face-down at 9pm more nights than not, and saying no to two things I would have said yes to the year before out of guilt rather than want. Nobody photographs that part, which might be exactly why it's the part that worked.

The rest that worked wasn't photogenic. That might be the whole point.

I'm not claiming to have this figured out — some weeks the phone stays face-up and I say yes to everything. But the ratio moved this year, and that's the only metric I'm tracking.

Let’s Be Friends

Once a month I send the things that didn’t make it to the grid — the hotel I’d actually rebook, what I’m cooking on repeat, the one thing I bought and don’t regret.

No spam — just what I’m loving each month.
