The nine-minute version of getting ready

Not a full routine — just the four things I actually do before I'm out the door, in the order I actually do them.

Neké Akua laughing on a stool in a cream graphic tee and flared denim.

Four things, in order

Skin first, while the coffee's still too hot to drink. Then whatever's already laid out from the night before — I stopped deciding outfits in the morning years ago, it's the fastest way to waste nine good minutes on something that doesn't matter. Then hair, which for me means deciding whether today is a wash day or a hat day.

The outfit takes four minutes because I made the decision for it the night before.

The ninth minute is always the same: standing at the door deciding whether I need the bigger bag. I do. I always do.

Let’s Be Friends

Once a month I send the things that didn’t make it to the grid — the hotel I’d actually rebook, what I’m cooking on repeat, the one thing I bought and don’t regret.

No spam — just what I’m loving each month.
